UCI Arts names 2024 Lauds and Laurels recipient

UC Irvine Alumni Association to Honor Darcy Prevost M.F.A. ’09 with Distinguished Alumni Award

Recognizing Darcy Prevost’s, M.F.A. ’09, exceptional contributions to the field of set and production design for theatre, film and television, the UC Irvine Alumni Association names Prevost the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient for the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. Her award-winning career establishes her as a leader in UCI’s creative arts community.

“Darcy Prevost represents excellence and innovation in the arts," shared Claire Trevor Dean of the Arts Tiffany López. "With her accomplishments in production and scenic design, she inspires our students to see possible pathways for their future careers, making her the perfect recipient as the Claire Trevor School of the Arts Distinguished Alumni awardee.” 

Since earning her M.F.A. in scenic design at UCI, Prevost has collaborated with leading film & television companies like HBO, ABC Studios, Warner Bros., Netflix and Disney+. In 2022, her exceptional production design work on Muppets Haunted Mansion earned her an Emmy in the Children’s and Family Awards category for Outstanding Art Direction/Scenic Design. She is also a two-time Art Director’s Guild Awards nominee for her production work in the Netflix children’s show, Waffles + Mochi: Restaurant and the Disney+ show, Earth to Ned.

Prevost’s approach to scenic and production design is characterized by creativity, curiosity and meticulous attention to detail. From crafting backgrounds to identifying design styles, she brings stories to life with depth and play, captivating audiences. To visualize her sets, Prevost creates real-life models, including clay drafts for the Disney+ show Earth to Ned, before just recently refining them with computerized renderings and models.

Darcy Prevost's journey and achievements exemplify her as an outstanding alumna whose creativity, passion and excellence continue to inspire and elevate the world of scenic and production design.

The UC Irvine Alumni Association will honor Darcy Prevost and 23 other accomplished Anteaters at the 2024 Lauds & Laurels ceremony on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.
