Eunah Noh is an internationally acclaimed haegeum (traditional Korean string instrument that resembles a vertical fiddle) performer and educator, currently serving as a Professor at the Department of Korean Music in the College of Music, Seoul National University. With over 30 years of professional experience as a haegeum performer, Dr. Noh has dedicated her career to expanding the boundaries of the haegeum and presenting its future direction through commissioning and premiering a large body of solo and chamber music by living composers while continuing to perform traditional music on various stages across the world.

Dr. Noh holds a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts from Seoul National University. She has served as a Member of KBS Traditional Orchestra and a Professor at the Seoul Institute of the Arts before joining the Seoul National University. Currently, she is actively engaged in Korean academia as a Vice President of The Society of Haegeum Practitioners, a member of the Korean Traditional Music Educators' Society and Gajeunakhoe, and as a Successor of Cheoyongmu, National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 39. 

She has been awarded First Prize Winner of the Dong-A Traditional Music Competition and Peace Prize at the World Culture Open. As a passionate educator, she has published a book entitled Haegeum Performance Techniques for Contemporary Composition – Research & Application along with her DMA dissertation, A Study of Haegeum Playing Techniques for Contemporary Composition. Dr. Noh has released eight solo albums, held twenty-eight solo recitals under the title of The Deer Plays the Haegeum, and performed with prestigious orchestras worldwide. Recently, she has released a compilation album featuring haegeum sanjo, folk songs, and contemporary repertoires which represent the current haegeum music. 

Dr. Noh is dedicated to the globalization of the haegeum and has been presenting concerts and workshops internationally since her solo recital at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2022. Her publication, The Haegeum: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Composers and Performers, written in Korean and English, is expected to contribute to the promotion of the international audience’s interest and professional elaboration on haegeum music.
